Recommendation for a USB text? |

I'm looking to expand my knowledge and want to explore how difficult it would be to add USB functionality to a project. In particular I'm interested in a replacement for the tried & true RS232 interface for things like remote control (PC -> PIC), data acquisition (PIC -> PC), etc.
I don't feel that nervous about adding the USB interface per se, but what I'm lost on is the PC end.
I was thinking about getting USB Complete by (I think) Jan Axelrod. Any thoughts regarding this book? Any others that I should consider?
Thanks in advance. |

Definitely get USB Complete (2nd Edition). It's about as good an "all in one" book as I've found for learning about USB.
The 1st Edition got me through my first couple USB projects and the 2nd Edition is even better.
Oh, and the author's name is Jan Axelson. Her company name is Lakeview Research and her website is here. |

I checked out the 2nd edition from the library, and I seem to see better reviews for the 2nd edition than the 3rd edition. Many complain that it is not "complete".
Since you have read the 3rd edition for almost two weeks now, what is your opinion of the 3rd edition vs. the 2nd edition? |

I only have a copy of the 3rd edition, so I can't comment about the 2nd. However, I can say that I am quite disappointed with this book. In general, I found it to be too repetitive and thus quite a tiresome read. |
